The answer is they can’t. Make sure you formulate your portfolio in such a way that you are able to tell a story about how you solved problems for clients.

Giveaways can be a downloadable and useful product for them. For example, it could be a checklist of things they need to complete a task, or even fun like some icons you designed to use themselves.
They don’t offer free work, though. You are a professional and you should pay for what you do. However, little things that don’t take long will create some goodwill.
3 – Organize it
If you’ve been working independently for a while, you may have some old projects in your portfolio that are no longer relevant. This is especially true if you are a jack of all trades at first. Now that you’re established and have a more specific niche you’re working within, you should delete anything that doesn’t fit into that niche.
